Morrisons has upset Muslim shoppers promoting pork products under Ramadan promotional stickers.

Speaking to the press 32-year-old shopper, Shoaib Khan, said: "I don't think it's offensive but it's disappointing. If you're going to do something like that you need to do it properly. They need to be careful about this sort of thing."

In its defense Morrisons has claimed the sticker was moved.

"Somebody appears to have moved the sticker before the photo was taken," said a spokesperson for the supermarket chain. "We can confirm the Ramadan sticker is not near any pork products this week."

The faux pas comes after another store in Bedford was found promoting ham and cheese ciabattas under promotional stickers and Tesco was caught out wishing shoppers a Happy Ramadan whilst advertising smokey bacon Pringles.

According to retail consultants Ramadan is the third most important religious festival to retailers behind Christmas and Easter.
