The BBC Top Gear fracas doesn’t seem to have tempered Jeremy Clarkson’s taste for controversy after it emerged he made an Oscar Pistorius jibe during a live show in South Africa.

Following reports that Clarkson and former Top Gear co-hosts James May and Richard Hammond are going to feature in a new motoring show, potentially on Netflix, Clarkson and May have been caught making the poor-taste remark during their live tour in Johannesburg.

According to the Mirror, Clarkson, wielding a paintball gun, pretended to shoot a member of the audience before joking “I thought he was a burglar.”

May reportedly retorted: “Was that a member of the audience you just shot in the bathroom?”

The comments appear to make light of the murder of Reeva Steenkamp, who Pistorius was jailed for shooting at his home in South Africa on Valentine's Day 2013.

The BBC has recently announced that it is to bring back Top Gear with Chris Evans at the helm.
