Andy Smith, joint president of the NUJ, believes individuals can compete against multinational media players by producing good journalism and having a strong understanding of online media.

Smith, who was elected co-president of the NUJ last year, was in attendance at the Online Media Awards 2015 where he was asked how online media might develop within the online sector.

“If you know how to use the media, you can produce something that can compete,” said Smith
