Equator has appointed Martin Jordan to the new role of innovation director, leading a team focused on developing new technologies and testing emerging channels to enhance Equator’s offering.

Jordan, who joined Equator eight years ago and formerly held the post of marketing director, said: “Equator has always been focused on digital innovation but the agency is now at a size where we can dedicate an entire team to not only assessing and implementing new technology but also creating our own tools and applications that will be useful to the brands we work in partnership with.

“We are currently playing with lots of exciting new devices and applications such as iBeacons, Oculus Rift, predictive analysis and personalised data tools, all of which have huge potential to transform the way brands communicate with their audiences.”

Equator’s 25-strong digital marketing team will now be led by Fiona Robertson, Jordan’s successor as marketing director. Robertson, who joins the agency from DigitasLBi, previously worked for Equator from 2006 to 2009. She will be responsible for developing Equator’s SEO, PPC, display and affiliate teams.

Robertson said: “Martin is a tough act to follow, however I feel my experience in other agencies stands me in good stead to take things to the next level. Equator is an exciting place to be and I feel privileged to be a part of the next chapter.”

Equator, established in 1999, employs 130 people at its Glasgow studio.
