Microsoft Lumia has published a limited edition free sheet called The Nine to Five which will be distributed to commuters on the morning rush hour each day from 22 to 26 June.

Intended to inspire workers to ditch the office and pursue their own creative and personal development the campaign follows publication of research showing that 46 per cent of UK employees spent the May bank holiday working, 60 per cent of whom spent the day in the office.

This is despite the advent of mobile technology making home working easier than ever before as 58 per cent of smartphone users admit their productivity is hampered by a lack of understanding of how their devices work.

Jules Grudniewicz, campaigns and partnerships manager for Microsoft Devices in UK & Ireland, said: “With time so often at a premium, Microsoft Lumia is committed to enabling people to get the most out of their days. Using the combined power of Microsoft devices, we will create a fresh new publication that will help commuters go to work with a smile on their faces, reinvigorated.”

Ditching conventional coverage of politics and war the newspaper will instead focus on positive stories from the worlds of culture, music, fashion, design and sport.

A print run of 10,000 copies will be distributed around commuter hubs in London, Birmingham, Manchester, Bristol and Edinburgh.
