Facebook unveils new app to privately share photos
Facebook has introduced a new app that will make it easier for users to privately share photos.
The Moments app will group the photos on phones together based on when they were taken and, with the help of facial recognition, with the friends that are in them. The photos can then be privately synced with specific friends from Facebook without them appearing on the newsfeed.
The app has been designed to keep synced photos organised and uses the same facial recognition technology that powers tag suggestions on Facebook.
Searching is possible within the app as well and will allow users find a friend in their uploaded images quickly and easily.
It has been developed by Facebookâs Creative Labs which launched early last year. The initiative was designed to give small teams within the company the freedom to create standalone apps and other projects that exist outside the Facebook app.
Moments has just launched in the US and is available on Apple and Android devices. It is expected to be released in other countries soon.
