Sainsbury’s loyalty programme Nectar has introduced a new service allowing consumers to use their points for discounted events such as theatre, comedy, live music, exhibitions and museums.

To coincide with the launch, a new website has launched showcasing the raft of events for users to browse which they can view by venue, city and time before selecting their seats and the number of Nectar points they wish to spend.

For every 500 points redeemed, £2.50 will be taken off the total price.

Nectar claims Tickets is the first in a series of planned announcements to the reward scheme, having recently halved the number of points you earn for money spent.

It said at the time it would offer “more targeted, personalised rewards” to its customers, who were quick to complain following the changes.
