Hulu secures exclusive US rights to stream Mr Bean: The Animated Series
Video-on-demand service Hulu has secured the exclusive rights to stream Mr Bean: The Animated Series 1 and 2 in the US from Endemol Shine International.
The hit show has been a ratings winner for CITV in the UK since premiering in February, prompting international interest in the latest iteration of the comedy brand.
The quarter century-old format of comedic bumbling, mishap and esoteric solutions to daily life is still going strong, racking up more than 1.3 billion YouTube views and 35 million video and DVD sales. Mr Bean himself, memorably portrayed by Rowan Atkinson, is by far the most liked character on Facebook with 62 million fans.
Cathy Payne, chief executive of Endemol Shine International said, “Mr Bean: The Animated Series 1 & 2 truly captures the essence of the wonderful Mr Bean. ESI couldn’t be happier that Hulu has acquired both series and know that the US Hulu audience will enjoy them as much as the rest of the world”.
Each season comprises 52 episodes of 11 minutes duration which have now been licensed for use in over 70 countries.
