Barclays has tapped the comedic talents of Jason Manford for a social media campaign to boost awareness of its Barclaycard benefits.

Five short films – edited from a full-length stand-up show – highlight everyday irritations such as queuing and arranging foreign currency on holiday, impulse buys, before promoting how Barclaycard features can help customers overcome these kinds of problems.

“Jason felt like a perfect partner to help us dramatise some of life’s challenges. His observational humour and perceptive take on life offered a great way to get the word out about the benefits Barclaycard provides in a funny and engaging way that we hope many people will immediately relate to,” explained Katherine Whitton, chief marketing officer for Barclaycard.

“Whether it's the exclusive benefit of pre-sale entertainment tickets; monitoring your account on the go with the Barclaycard mobile servicing app; using our spend limit alert service or contactless payments, Barclaycard has designed a range of features that have one thing in mind – helping our customers get more out of their day,”

The films will be released via its social media channels as part of Barclay’s wider ‘Get More Out of Today’ campaign which includes TV and print ads, a partnership with the Zooppa creative community, direct marketing to existing customers and the sponsorship activation of Barclaycard presents British Summer Time Hyde Park event.
