In partnership with select biotech firms, the company is working to move from lab to commercial scale to roll out the 100 per cent plant-based plastic bottle.

The move is part of the company’s effort to package its products in a more environmentally-conscious way.

The soda giant debuted its ‘PlantBottle’ packaging six years ago, which is up to 30 per cent plant-based materials.

30 per cent of Coca-Cola bottles in North America are ‘PlantBottles’ while only 7 per cent are globally.
