Today we feature Ballantine’s, a whisky that has gained considerable attention with the launch of its newest social media campaign.

1) The brand

Ballantine’s was founded in Edinburgh in 1827. Over the years, the brand has expanded globally. It was acquired by Pernod Ricard a decade ago and Sandy Hyslop was named the company’s fifth master blender a year later.

2) The sponsorships

One of the ways Ballantine’s has stayed in the public eye is through its heavy event sponsorship. Most notably, it has sponsored the Scottish Open, Australian A-League Football and the Dumbarton Football Club.

3) $11,000 scotch

Earlier this year, Ballantine’s released an exclusive line of scotch whisky that had been aged for 40 years. The product carries a lofty price tag of $11,000 a bottle. Only 100 bottles of the blend are available.

4) Gabriel Macht

As part of a massive marketing campaign geared toward Indian consumers, Ballantine’s enlisted ‘Suits’ star Gabriel Macht. Created by Ogilvy & Mather, the campaign stressed the slogan, “Stay True, Leave an Impression.”

5) Instagram Magazine

Ballantine’s most recently made headlines after launching a magazine entirely on Instagram. The colorful, bold campaign features three articles so far and can be viewed @w_issueone.
