Oculus’ virtual reality platform Rift will not censor or remove pornographic apps, according to company founder Palmer Luckey.

First person, 360 degree pornographic video's potential has been touted for decades ever since it appeared in movies such as Demolition Man, but the sex industry is impatiently waiting to implement the tech on platforms such as the Oculus Rift and Samsung Gear VR, according to International Business Times.

Speaking at Silicon Valley Virtual Reality Conference in California, group founder, Palmer Luckey, said that the firm will not be restricting apps based on their genre.

She said: “The rift is an open platform. We don't control what software can run on it, and that's a big deal.”

Among those developing for the platform is Facebook – which is keen on developing an interactive social media construct after purchasing the start-up for $2bn almost a year ago.
