Sky Media, the ad sales division of Sky, has appointed its first PR agency, MWW, in a bid to raise awareness of its services within the advertising community.

The move comes after Sky became the sole reseller of Viacom’s advertising inventory in the UK and Ireland last month. The landmark deal also gave it responsibility of Channel 5’s £250m TV ad sales business.

This January also marked a year since Sky rolled out its AdSmart technology, which offers brands the ability to target specific audiences during live TV ad breaks. MWW has also been tasked with increasing awareness of the service among advertisers.

“With our strong channel portfolio and the growth of Sky AdSmart, it is an incredibly exciting time for the business,” said Rachel Bristow, recently appointed director of client partnerships and collaboration.

“MWW has unrivalled knowledge of the media and advertising sector and will no doubt play an integral role in supporting us.”

In addition to Viacom, Sky Media works with 26 broadcasters including Discovery Communications, National Geographic, FOX and NBC Universal.
