Google preps sponsored Buy buttons for search
Google is readying a series of Buy buttons to help boost e-commerce click through rates in its search results.
The Wall Street Journal reports that the buttons will appear alongside ‘Shop On Google’ sponsored results only on mobile devices.
E-commerce rivals Amazon and eBay already operate such features, the difference being Google will hope ‘Buy’ directs mobile users to its sponsored wares.
Users will reportedly be directed to a landing page of the participating retailer where they will be able to select options such as size and colour and delivery options.
The Buy will however not appear on non-sponsored items - or on desktop - which was recently overtaken for search by mobile.
Macy’s is one of the retailers in talks with the search giant according to the WSJ.
