Sportswear brand Adidas is starting from scratch in regard to its boot range after simultaneously scrapping its entire line of on-field footwear including its Predator, f50, 11Pro and Nitrocharge branded boots.

The abrupt end of an era was revealed via a YouTube clip starring Leo Messi, Thomas Müller, Luis Suarez and Oscar the switch has been spurred by replacing previously defined player types and positions with just two types of player.

Top coach Pep Guardiola explained: “It’s chaos or control. You need both. They are part of the game. Part of the field. You need players who have to analyse what you have to do. And there are other ones who have to be a bit free and show his talent as much as possible. When you have a team you mix both types of ideas. You have a big advantage.”

Filling this resultant vacuum will be a new line of boots which are set to receive their grand unveil on 25 May, codenamed X and Ace.
