Cinema chain Vue has appointed former Lonely Planet marketing boss Shona Gold as its head of marketing for the UK and Ireland. She replaces John de Chane, who held the position as interim head of marketing.

Reporting into the recently appointed commercial director, Dominic Rowell, Gold has been tasked with driving the customer experience proposition at Vue. She will be responsible for a team of ten covering brand development, customer services, digital marketing, local marketing, retail marketing and communications.

“I am really excited to be joining the team at Vue, particularly knowing the plans ahead for the business and brand,” she said. “Having worked with some of the leading brands in their markets I am looking forward to bringing my experience to a new sector and being part of an evolving industry”.

Vue operates 84 multiplex cinemas across the UK and Ireland and 187 Internationally.

In her previous role at Lonely Planet, where she spent nine years, she was responsible for global sales and marketing teams.

Prior to joining the travel company in 2006, Gold worked across FMCG brands including Häagen-Dazs, Ski Yoghurt and Nestle Rowntree.

She will join the business at the start of June.
