Filter sunglasses brand Tens has turned to the 80s to inspire the launch of its new collection.

Offering an affectionate nod to a bygone era of advertising Tens infomercial offers a satirical response to overproduced HD content. Shot predominately on VHS the three minute long film comes complete with cheesy American voiceover, Baywatch-style beach babes and a guitar solo soundtrack.

“We wanted to create a video that fosters the feeling of instant nostalgia; the same feeling people get when they wear our sunglasses, we’re told,” commented Tom Welsh, director of Tens who has previously shot films for Nike, Red Bull and You Me At Six.

“If Tens were invented in the VHS era, this would have been our TV ad.”

Launched on Indiegogo in May 2014, Tens raised almost £370,000 on pre-orders, shipping more than 25,000 units to over 100 countries since then.
