GSD&M promotes Jay Russell to chief creative officer

Austin-bsaed GSD&M has promoted Jay Russell, who previously served as SVP-executive creative director for the agency, to EVP-chief creative officer.

In this role, he will be tasked with providing solutions to clients’ business challenges. Russell returned to GSD&M in 2011 after a brief stint at Crispin, Porter & Bogusky where he helped launch the Windows phone.

The agency has also promoted J.B. Raftus from SVP-chief marketing officer to EVP-chief marketing officer.

Raftus has been with GSD&M for almost 25 years, minus one year at McKinney. He has helped the agency win accounts including Whole Foods, Chipotle, and PetSmart.

The two work will alongside CEO Duff Stewart and president Marianne Malina.
