Messaging app Tango rolls out shopping feature with Walmart and Alibaba’s AliExpress

Tango, a free video and phone call messaging app, will now allow its users to look at and purchase products within the app.

Called ‘Tango Shop,’ the feature exists as a tab that highlights a curated list of items from Walmart and AliExpress, according to Re/code.

While Tango has a revenue share agreement with the two retailers, though has not revealed details of how this is split.

Vice president of product Chi-Chao Chang at Tango told the publication that the curated list will eventually become personalized for each user based upon their prior purchases and searches, but will also include season-specific goods.

The app was founded in 2009 and currently claims more than 250 million registered members worldwide.
