The Huffington Post had pledged its support to Reporters Without Borders (RSF).

Following World Press Freedom Day last week (Sunday 3 May) which celebrates the fundamental principles of press freedom around the world, co-founder and editor-in-chief tweeted the Huffington Post had teamed up with RSF to "ensure free speech and safety for journalists".

Huffington asked others to show their support linking to a Crowdrise page attempting to raise funds for the international network of 150 local correspondents in 130 countries spanning 11 national branches with consultative status between the UN and UNESCO.

In 2014 60 journalists were killed globally with the Middle East proving to be the most-volatile region.
