In this newly created role, he will collaborate on key client and new-business initiatives across the agency’s offices worldwide.

Based in Chicago, Jacobson will report to North America chief creative officer Ronald Ng. He will also work in-residence at numerous global officers to help grow local and national design capabilities, starting this summer in China.

Of his appointment, Ng said: “Matthew is a rock star in the design world, and now’s the perfect time for him to spread his wings across our growing global creative footprint. His unique understanding of what makes people tick delivers a competitive edge for our clients.”

While serving as SVP-group director, he led design for DigitasLBi’s North American offices.

Recently, he and his team rebranded the 225-year-old New York Stock Exchange.

Before joining DigitasLBi, Jacobson served as head of design for Jack White’s Third Man Records.
