Labour leader Ed Miliband has emerged as the most talked about politician in the land following his BBC Question Time appearance, with 32.7 per cent of all Twitter mentions over the past 24 hours versus just 25.8 per cent for his Conservative rival David Cameron.

According to figures compiled by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) Miliband has been at the heart of the debate following his appearance on the show with the party he represents also receiving the lion’s share of discussions, nabbing 28.7 per cent of all mentions – fractionally ahead of Ukip on 26.2 per cent.

In fact both Cameron and Clegg remained behind the SNP in terms of Twitter mentions despite the Scottish party not even fielding candidates in the rest of the UK.

These statistics were generated by ElectUK, an app built by TCS to chart, visualise and disseminate Twitter trends pertaining to the election.
