Tumblr founder and chief executive David Karp took to the stage at Yahoo's NewFront event for the first time ever yesterday (27 April).

During his presentation he discussed Tumblr's Sponsored Video product and the site's Creatrs Network – a group of talented bloggers recruited by brands to help with campaigns.

Yahoo bought Tumblr for over $1bn in 2014, at the time chief executive Marissa Mayer said that she wanted the two companies to "work together to create advertising opportunities that are seamless and enhance user experience".

Yesterday the relationship appeared to be stronger than ever, as Karp led a presentation about the potential Tumblr content has to reach advertisers via ad targeting platform Yahoo Gemini.

NewFront also saw the internet giant announce 18 new series in an effort to bolster its digital video presence and attract advertisers.

The new premium content offerings, will run across the site’s live broadcasting, digital magazine, and original programming platforms, with one being produced by music mogul Simon Cowell.
