AKQA acquires Italian digital agency H-Art

AKQA has acquired Italian digital agency H-Art as it looks to create a 'digital renaissance' in the Italian market.

The partnership will see the two companies share their teams, skills and expertise while the H-Art team will lead the development of the network in new strategic markets including Southern and Eastern Europe, the Middle East and North Africa.

Ajaz Ahmed, AKQA’s chief executive (CEO) said the agency holds an admiration for Italian artistry, craftsmanship and culture that has "inspired many pioneers through the ages".

"We are tremendously excited to be investing in Italy to signal a digital

renaissance and help deliver revolutionary work, inspiring a new generation of innovators.”

Massimo Costa, Italian country manager of WPP, which owns a majority stake in AKQA, added that the partnership establishes WPP's role of offering clients the best resources in the digital sector.

H-Arts founder, Massimiliano Ventimiglia, will remain CEO, and continue to be the chief digital officer of WPP Italia as well as a member of the executive board of GroupM Italia.
