Ikea has appointed OgilvyOne to oversee a global consulting project following a three-way competitive pitch.

The agency will work with Ikea Systems B.V, the franchisor and Ikea concept owner on a strategy to promote the ways to shop at the retailer's stores and on the website.

“We are thrilled to be appointed by Inter Ikea Systems B.V. and can’t wait to get started,” said Sam Williams-Thomas, chief executive OgilvyOne UK.

“As well as being the World’s largest furniture retailer and a much loved brand, the brief really allows us to demonstrate our strength and experience as the leading end-to end customer experience and communications agency.”

With a brief to put users “in control” while shopping both on and offline, the agency is in the midst of carrying out an extensive review of the Ikea customer journey to map and understand the customer experience.

After this initial consulting assignment, OgilvyOne will develop and implement a communications strategy to help raise awareness of the ways people can shop at Ikea and the services available to them.
