In the run-up to the general election, The Drum is launching a weekly podcast looking at the key media and marketing moments of the campaign.

Launching tomorrow (16 April), The Election Beat will be hosted by The Drum's managing editor Scotland, Cameron Clarke, who will be joined by a panel of experts from newspapers, advertising, social media and beyond to chew over the campaign's talking points.

Clarke said: "This is shaping up to be one of the closest and most fiercely fought general elections in memory. And from the advertising campaigns to the TV debates, newspaper reporting and social media activity, there's plenty to intrigue the media and marketing industry.

"Each week we'll be scrutinising the campaign tactics, media coverage and PR spinning to find out what effect it will have on polling day on 7 May and the government we'll be left with thereafter."

The first episode will be recorded at Jungle Studios in Soho today and will be available to stream and download from The Drum website tomorrow, with new episodes released each Thursday ahead of the election.
