Apple has been sued after a Florida-based artist claimed that the technology company stole the style of his artwork and used it in a campaign.

Brazillian-born Romero Britto is not unfamiliar with campaign art, as his work has been featured in campaigns for Mattel, Disney and Coca-Cola.

In the lawsuit filed earlier this month, Britto claimed that Apple emanated his signature style of bright colors and cartoonish figures in its ‘Start Something New’ campaign.

The art has been featured worldwide, Britto’s lawyer, Robert Zarco told ReCode.

“I came across them in Las Vegas in late January, and then in China three weeks later,” he said.

In the lawsuit, the artist has requested that Apple immediately ceases using the artwork and that it pays an undecided amount in damages.

“The amount is going to be in the millions of dollars,” Zarco said.

According to Apple, the creative work for the campaign was done by Craig & Karl.
