Morning all, here’s a glimpse at all the media and marketing news you should know this morning.

1. Ad agencies are set to reap the benefits of an increased US political spend in the run up to the 2016 election, reports Business Insider. One estimate said that US online political advertising could quadruple to nearly $1bn next year.

2. The man who exported KFC to the UK has dubbed the fast food chain “dreadful", vowing never to eat there again. The Telegraph notes that Raymond Allen, a friend of Harland 'Colonel' Saunders, criticized the company’s menu diversification, saying “they should have just stuck with the chicken”.

3. PepsiCo has snagged the sponsorship of the NBA from Coca-Cola, according to Fortune. The NBA announced Pepsi as its exclusive food and beverage partner from the start of next season, ending Coca-Cola’s reign over the basketball which kicked off 1986.

4. Some McDonald’s chains in Northeast Pennsylvania are offering customers with Taco Bell breakfast receipts a free Egg McMuffin, reports Business Insider. The promotion shows the company’s fear Taco Bell in the breakfast market.

5. Amazon has entered a new pact with Harper Collins enabling the publisher to set the price of its e-books, according to the Wall Street Journal. The News Corp-owned publisher has set a precedent by muscling Amazon, although the e-commerce giant will reportedly offer incentives for low prices.

6. The US has received a record number of visa applications from foreign science, engineering and computer programmers, notes Reuters. A total of 233,000 H-1B visas have been issued for fiscal 2016.

7. Hillary Clinton's social media presidential campaign push has seen her utilize the Facebook timeline to record prime points of her campaign - and life, notes New York Magazine. Clinton has filled in major events from her life to give those viewing her profile a full picture of her credentials.

8. IBM has launched Watson Health to analyze medical data, states the New York Times. The initial three industry partners are Apple, Johnson & Johnson and Medtronic.
