Media Slap, which will aim to solve the problems faced by media brands in one day, will take place at the end of this month. Andy Oakes, managing director of The Drum and the driving force behind the event, discussed his reasoning behind the need for the event to be held.

Taking place on 23 April, Media Slap will hear from many media and advertising experts who will offer their solutions to making money from publishing in the digital era. Speakers include: Ben Maher, UK advertising director, Mashable; Anne Gowan, head of direct, the Guardian; Tim Cain, managing director of AOP; Malcolm Coles, director, digital media at the Telegraph Media Group; Jamie Mottram, director of content development at USA Today and Robin Pembrooke, head of product, BBC News Online.

“In the old days we used to just sell advertising and subscriptions, but these days we have so many more options open to us…this event will give answers on how to do things better while listening to some of the biggest names working in media talk about how they have done it,” explained Oakes.

The full video interview with Oakes outlining his hopes for the event can be viewed about with more information available at the Media Slap website.
