Samsung has launched the UK’s largest ever Twitter treasure hunt after partnering with Cheil UK for #GS6Ishere, a digital and social media campaign supporting the launch of the Galaxy S6.

Active today for one day only the campaign sees a hidden ticket for a new S6 handset secreted around eight of the largest cities in the UK, with clues to their location delivered through a live video feed from Samsung’s Twitter channels.

Each hour the feed will switch to a different city with supporting media including the Samsung Piccadilly Circus screen and press ads in The Metro.

Twitter users are invited to join the hunt by reading cryptic clues secreted around Samsung’s Twitter account to track down the voucher, which will be handed over by a Samsung representative to anyone who shouts out a secret password.

James Keady, head of digital, Samsung UK and Ireland, said: “Working with Cheil UK, Samsung’s social presence will play a key role in a digital campaign that aims to capture the imagination and desire of our customers.”

Jon Buckley, head of social at Cheil UK, added: “Following our appointment to handle Samsung’s UK social channels we have been focused on taking a new tactical direction and for the Galaxy S6 we wanted to take it a step further and incorporate more interactivity and innovation into social.”

“The social treasure hunt this Friday 10th April has been designed to inject some fun into the communications around the new Galaxy S6 handsets, and to create a talking point for Samsung and its customers.”

Anyone who correctly guesses the correct location but cannot make it in person will be entered into a free prize draw for a handset.
