The RNLI (Royal National Lifeboat Institution) has appointed digital agency Yoyo Design to completely rebuild the corporate website, a key project within the charity’s wider digital transformation strategy.

The re-build will involve re-platforming onto Sitecore as CMS provider and making the site fully responsive and optimised for mobile.

Neil Thornburn, head of digital transformation at RNLI, said: “The charity landscape will continue to diversify as donors seek new ways to support causes. Our digital transformation program aims to ensure we can respond accordingly to stay relevant in an increasingly competitive sector. We have a number of new campaigns which target younger supporters so we need to ensure we cater for their online needs.

“Our main website (and subsequently our product and campaign microsites) will be the first in a series of projects to transform the RNLI in the digital space, acting as a foundation for all our online activity moving forward.”

James Forage, director at Yoyo, said: “RNLI are an ambitious and innovative organisation. The brief, to revamp their public facing website in order to engage an audience demographic spanning teenagers through to the over 60s, is both challenging and inspiring.”

The RNLI is a UK charity providing an on-call 24-hour lifeboat search and rescue service and a seasonal lifeguard service.
