Soon-to-be London’s newest landmark the Garden Bridge has found a digital home thanks to the team at Wilson Fletcher.

Inspired by Joanna Lumley and designed by Heatherwick Studio, the Garden Bridge, once built, will span the River Thames providing everyone in London with a spectacular green space linking the north and the south.

Tasked with providing a digital home for the bridge filled with regular news and information on how members of the public can support get involved the team at Wilson Fletcher set to work in September 2014.

“We were introduced to the Garden Bridge Trust last year, so there wasn’t a huge pitch process,” explained Corinne Powers, business development at Wilson Fletcher. “It was quite a swift transition from being introduced to starting work, the Trust wanted a digital partner to create a home for the bridge online and the brief itself was pretty open.”

Taking around three months to complete, at present, the website’s main aim is to debunk the myths around the bridge and will later become a functional platform to raise the funds necessary to finance the bridge.

“So many things have come out in the press inaccurately about the project and the website gives the Trust a platform to get the correct information out there and respond to questions people might have,” said Wilson Fletcher, co-founder Mark Wilson.

“Generally the response has been good but this is very much the first release of the site and we have lots of plans for what it can do in the future. For now the focus is to tell the story and then when the build begins we can chart the various stages of that.”

Sorcha Daly, Wilson Fletcher’s lead content strategist on the website, added in the few short weeks the site has been live information requests about the bridge to the Trust have decreased.

As well as news, FAQs and fundraising, the site also provides a space for community engagement with social media integration.

“It’s such a hot topic in London, the Garden Bridge is being built for the people of London so we wanted Londoners to have a clear voice on the site,” added Daly. “It’s important for people to start feeling like it’s theirs and something that they can be part of.”

The fully-responsive Garden Bridge website can be explored here.
