Twitter is reacting after Kristi Gordon, pregnant news anchor at Global BC News in Canada, received hateful letters about her weight and outfit choices.

The news anchor read some of the letters on air (above), and implored viewers not to harass her as they had during her first pregnancy.

“Nowhere on North America TV have we seen a weather reader so gross as you,” one letter read. “Your front end looks like the Hindenburg and your rear end looks like a brick house.”

In a blogpost, the anchor discussed how the constant criticism had begun to affect her well-being.

“No matter how rational or confident you are, the mean things people say can have an impact,” she wrote. “Negative thoughts seep in when you don’t even realize it. Even a little joking comment could do some damage.”

In response, fans of the anchor swarmed to Twitter to share their support and baby bumps, using the hashtag #KushionsforKristi.
