Arla Foods has appointed Havas Worldwide London as its creative agency as the dairy looks to expand into emerging markets.

The appointment follows a pitch against DLKW Lowe and will see Havas tasked with building the brand across emerging markets.

Wieden+Kennedy, which is currently Arla’s global advertising agency, as well as ad agency for Lurpak and Cravendale, will continue to be responsible for strategy and master guidelines.

Havas will run the Arla brand account centrally, working with its healthcare network based across Sao Paulo, Singapore and South Africa.

Jan Worre Pedersen, head of global media and agency management at Arla Foods, said that the company was “very confident” that Havas was as “equally ambitious” as its own vision.

“The agency passionately detailed how they’ll convey local nuances across our emerging markets and build the Arla brand through meaningful campaigns,” he said.

The emerging markets focused upon initially will be LATAM, Africa and South East Asia with six campaigns expected across its brand portfolio in the short term, Arla has revealed.
