X-Factor drops Dermot O'Leary as host after 8 years
Dermot O’Leary has been dropped from his position as the host of singing competition the X-Factor after eight years at the helm.
The long-time presenter of the show will not present the next season of the X-Factor, with Olly Murs touted as his most likely replacement.
O’Leary issued a statement on Twitter thanking Simon Cowell, the producers and the fans for their support throughout the years.

The timely move sparked rumours that O'Leary will be the next host of Top Gear.
