Vice, and Home Box Office (HBO) have signed a major deal, that will expand the partnership’s news coverage over the next four years.

The pair, who already work together to produce documentary series Vice HBO, will now also produce five half hour news shows a week, for 48 weeks a year.

In addition, the Vice HBO series is guaranteed to continue into 2018.

“Over the last few years, our relationship with HBO has morphed from a great business partnership into a transformative brand-builder. This groundbreaking deal will create a new voice in news,” said Shane Smith, Vice co-founder. “This deal, simply put, allows Vice the freedom to go after any story, anywhere we find it – and to do so with complete independence.”

The daily shows will aggregate on-the-ground coverage from the company’s 30 international bureaus.

In addition, HBO Go subscribers will be given access to all Vice material via a Vice-banded channel.
