Facebook has launched ‘On This Day,’ a feature that lets its users see previous status updates, photos, posts from friends and other things that they’ve shared or been tagged in from years ago.

The feature rivals Timehop, an app that allows people to see past posts from Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and other social channels. ‘On This Day’ will only showcase posts from Facebook.

Each user will be the only one to see their past content unless they choose to share it with friends.

‘On This Day’ gives people the option to subscribe to notifications in order to be alerted when there are memories to look back on, with the ability to edit or delete old posts.

The social networking site has been testing the feature and plans to roll it out globally on web and mobile.
