A man dressed as Top Gear’s silent race driver 'the Stig' has driven to BBC HQ in a tank wielding a petition, boasting nearly one million signatures, calling for suspended presenter Jeremy Clarkson’s reinstatement.

The petition was started by political blogger Guido Fawkes last weekend following the ‘fracas’ which sparked Clarkson’s suspension from Top Gear and it is just shy of one million votes at the time of publication.

The tank, driven by a Stig impersonator, has its main gun pointed at the BBC’s New Broadcasting House, in Marylebone.

Guido Fawkes shared video of the protest on Twitter.

The stunt comes after Clarkson launched a foul-mouthed rant against the Beeb on Thursday that claimed "the BBC have fucked themselves" with the suspension.
