Fast food makes a fast buck for Just Eat with a 62% revenue boost in 2014

Just Eat has announced that it made £157m in revenue in 2014 - up 62 per cent year on year.

The online fast food ordering platform, which partnered with 45,700 takeaways throughout the UK, stated that orders increased by over half to 61.2m.

Furthermore active users (who made at least one order in the 12 month period) rose from 5.9 million in 2013 to 8.1 million, up by over a third according to the company. This boost saw the firm process over £1bn worth of transactions.

The firm’s mobile strategy also came through with 61 per cent of orders being made on a smartphone or tablet, up from 43 per cent in 2013.

David Buttress, chief executive officer of Just Eat, said: “It’s been another excellent year for Just Eat. Our results demonstrate how we are successfully building market-leading positions as more consumers discover the ease of use and wide choice of cuisines that our marketplaces for takeaway food offer.

“I am delighted with the progress we have made both financially and operationally. I remain confident for the year ahead as we focus on our strategic objectives, investing to deliver long-term, sustainable returns for our shareholders.”

In 2015, the board announced that it expects revenues to exceed £200m.
