Digital Cinema Media (DCM) has made Karen Stacey its permanent chief executive.

Stacey joined to take the role on an interim basis following the departure of Simon Rees.

Nigel Sharrocks, non-executive chairman at DCM, said: “The Board and I are thrilled to welcome Karen to the DCM team on a permanent basis after conducting a full recruitment search. We’re impressed with the approach Karen has taken and the impact she has made to date, and we look forward to her continuing to drive the business forward.”

Stacey added: “Demand for cinema has never been higher. The medium is experiencing huge growth and innovation, it's more flexible and targeted than ever and there’s a range of exciting opportunities available for brands to engage a diverse cinemagoing audience. Admissions are expected to cross the 170 million mark this year, revenues are hitting double digit growth and brand count is up 60 per cent over the last 18 months. Simply put, it’s a brilliant time to be in cinema.”

Stacey had previously held senior positions within Channel 4, Bauer Media UK.
