Rovio has launched the latest iteration of its Angry Birds Stella brand, Stella POP!, a mobile puzzle game now available on iOS and Android devices.

Working with Scottish firm Outplay Entertainment, Rovio created a bubble-popping puzzle game – vastly different from previous Angry Bird entries.

Heini Kaihu, head of studio at Rovio Entertainment, said: “We wanted Stella POP! to be special, and when Outplay approached us for a potential collaboration we knew it be perfect for taking the Angry Birds Stella brand on the next step in its gaming journey.

Douglas Hare, founder and chief executive of Outplay Entertainment, added: “We are big fans of Angry Birds and are proud to be a key part of the next stage in one of the most iconic mobile games of the last five years.

“We are delighted to be working with Rovio and hope this is the first step in an ongoing relationship between the companies.”

Dundee-based Outplay Entertainment was founded in 2011 and develops games for the mobile platform.

The announcement comes after Rovio's head of games, Jami Laes, quit the company at the end of January.
