South African TV crew robbed on camera, tweet pictures of suspects
A reporter for the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) and with his crew, were mugged in Johannesburg yesterday just seconds before going live on air. The entire event was caught on camera (above).
The journalist, Vuyo Mvoko, was reporting on the arrival of the Zambian President when the muggers demanded the crew’s laptops, cellphones, and broadcasting equipment.
Crew member, Chriselda Lewis tweeted pictures of the suspects seconds after the robbery.
Do you know these men? They robbed us at gunpoint. They screamed at us 'Kill these dogs' #sabcnews pic.twitter.com/hxdY5Oyy0k

While the circumstances surrounding the robbery are unusual, the country’s police department reported that they receive about 173,000 robbery reports annually. However, taking unreported incidents into account, the actual number is likely much higher.
@vuyo_mvoko @Chriseldalewis @Sophie_Mokoena @SABCNewsOnline Our officers continuing with search for the robbers. Detailed statement at 6am.
