Hastings Direct has brought back brand characters Harry Hastings and Stephen Seagull to promote its car and home insurance offerings to potential customers.

Created by Rapp and produced by Blinkink, the campaign features five TV ads that evolve the relationship between the pair, voiced by Martin Jarvis and James Buckley.

“Our new campaign brings our insurance products to life through our charming characters Harry and Stephen,” explained Nicola Charles, digital and marketing director at Hastings Direct. “We want people to engage with our products and understand the benefits and savings they get from our policies, and these ads do so beautifully.”

The ads support Hastings’ renewed digital focus which looks to drive people to its website.

Rapp, managing director, John Perkins, commented: “Hastings is one of the fastest growing insurance brands in the UK, and these ads convey all that’s great about its products. The way we evolve characters helps the customers relate to insurance products as Harry and Stephen act out scenes that we’re all familiar with. We’re excited to work with Hastings Direct on its growth journey."

The first ad will run from early March with the others rolling out nationwide throughout the year. Media planning and buying will be handled by Rapp media.

This is the first campaign to come from Rapp after winning the media and creative Hastings Direct accounts last year.
