Hyundai has introduced an update to its Blue Link app enabling Android Wear users to remote start, lock or unlock their cars.

The car companion app already allowed drivers to open their vehicles with their smartphones but the coverage has been extended to smartwatches upon the launch of its latest update.

By tapping an icon on the app, or issuing a voice command, users can execute requests such as “start my car,” “lock my car” or “find my car”.

Frank Ferrara, executive vice president, customer satisfaction, Hyundai Motor America, said: “Blue Link subscribers and gadget lovers will appreciate a more convenient way to interact with their Hyundai vehicles.

“Now you can remote start your car with your smartphone, smartwatch, laptop, desktop or tablet. It is like being James Bond 007 or Scotty in Star Trek.”

The app requires a Bluetooth pairing to a compatible smartphone to achieve remote functionality.
