Startup Shyp, which provides pick-up, packaging, and sending services, has announced “Shyp Returns” which allows for returning online orders to participating retailers.

Retailers that are partnering with Shyp include Amazon, Target, Gap, J. Crew, Nordstrom, and Anthropologie.

Using the Shyp iPhone or Android app, users can select “return online purchase” and a Shyp driver will retrieve items for $5 per pickup in about 20 minutes, with boxes and extra packing items at no extra cost.

On the company’s blog announcing the new service, it wrote: “We’ve heard your frustration about the shipping process, particularly when it comes to returning items. And considering that as much as one-third of online purchases are returned, we aren’t going to stand for it.”

Consumers using Shyp still pay for shipping, but the app has an estimator that can help to gauge the cost of shipping.

Shyp is currently available in New York, San Francisco, and Miami. It is coming to Los Angeles soon.
