Betting mascot Maurice has returned to TV sets in a BetVictor campaign designed to inform bettors that the bookmaker offers more than just football gambling.

Three adverts were created by VCCP to raise awareness of BetVictor’s non-football offering, each focusing on a different sport - horse racing, tennis and cricket.

The first 30-second ad entitled ‘Jockey’ features Maurice, played by Paul Kaye, answering general knowledge questions in a comical manner – where he concludes that BetVictor is the best place for horse-racing gambling.

Anton Bell, chief marketing officer at BetVictor, said: “Our Maurice character has quickly become one of the most instantly recognisable advert stars on TV today and Maurice in the ‘hot seat’ provides us with a platform to communicate to the wider betting audience, across the many sports set to dominate the British spring and summer.”

Julian Douglas, vice chairman at VCCP, added: “The latest series of Maurice ads work as a suite promoting BetVictor’s non-football offering. We’re pleased to be able to cover different business priorities for BetVictor while keeping the humour and tone of the brand.”

The end tagline highlighted either BetVictor’s latest customer promotion or its welcome bonus offer of up to £25.

Jockey launched 2 March to inform audiences in the run up the Cheltenham.
