Owlchemy Labs has announced the virtual reality Job Simulator video game for those who just can’t get enough of work they want to partake in it during their spare time.

The game from Owlchemy Labs was yesterday (Sunday 1 march) teased on YouTube with a seven second clip showing gamers just what menial tasks they could tackle.

Job Simulator will be be the first virtual reality game to be launched on the SteamVR gaming platform. It will be set in 2050 when automatons have adopted all menial tasks and as a result, humans engage in 'jobs' as a recreational activity to rediscover their heritage.

Owlchemy said in a press release: “The path that lead us to this moment is quite insane, and we’re still in the process of unpacking it all. Ever since the Oculus Rift Kickstarter, we’ve been fervent believers in the potential of VR and ecstatic about the forthcoming widespread consumer adoption of such a transformative new medium.

“It’s thrilling to play a part in the upcoming explosion of consumer VR and we’re proud to add another amazing opportunity to the list by being one of only a few select developers building content for some of the most incredible VR hardware in the world.”

The title was designed for the HTC and Steam VR hardware, the Vive, although it will also be playable on Facebook’s Oculus Rift.

Those visiting the Game Developers Conference 2015 in San Francisco this week will be able to try out the title.
