Nielsen has released Twitter activity for the opening weekend of Netflix’s House of Cards, with 203,000 unique authors sending 373,000 tweets about the season three release over the weekend.

The data was tracked from Thursday 26 February at 5 am through Monday 2 March at 5 am, according to Nielsen, using 24/7 Twitter TV Tracking.

Since Nielsen Social tracks 24/7 Twitter TV Activity in the US, the House of Cards activity metrics are for the US only.

The official Twitter handle of the series, @houseofcards, encouraged retweets, favorites, and participation by tweeting quotes from the show.

There were also two polls that asked the following questions: “Who is really in control? Tip the balance of power and “Do the ends justify the means?”

Early last month, Netflix accidentally posted the third season of the show two weeks before its premiere date, which the company blamed on a “technical glitch.”

News of the leak quickly spread on Twitter, with 55,000 tweets about the show being issued in the first hour following the leak. The shoe was only on the site for 20 minutes before being pulled.
