Kanye West stole the show at this year's Brit Awards after his performance came under some technical difficulties causing the sound to cut out for some viewers.

Yeezus generated a fair bit of pre-show buzz with a surprise visit to Nandos beforehand stunning piri-piri enthusiasts in an incident which ended with him standing on a table delivering a sermon.

The most discussed point of the night on Twitter was West's performance of his new single 'All Day' which social media users complained was muted in parts on British TV. Coming third was the Brit Awards final call out to Twitter voters who could choose their favourite acts by voting via hashtag. The scheme encouraged second-screen Twitter interaction and the votes were tallied up by social media agency Spredfast.

And in fifth place, Madonna took a slick tumble during a live performance many viewers thought was part of her routine.

Nonetheless, social media users were quick to mock the star's misfortune on Twitter. Madonna issued an explanation for the fall on Instagram, stating her “beautiful cape was tied too tight”.

And finally, the evening also marked a return to the stage for hosts Ant and Dec to the Brit Awards after a 14 year hiatus. Their on-stage selfie was one of the most retweeted images of the evening.
