Jay Carney is joining Amazon as senior vice president for worldwide corporate affairs, Politico reported.

According to Politico, Carney will start this Monday and will report directly to CEO Jeff Bezos.

Politico states that under Carney, Amazon’s worldwide public relations and public policy shops will be brought into one department. “He’ll split his time between Seattle HQ and the D.C. office, where Amazon veteran Paul Misener will continue to run the company’s lobbying efforts,” the article said.

Last September, it was reported that Carney would join CNN as a political analyst. According to Politico, Carney will be leaving that position.

Carney served as the 29th White House press secretary and was the second person to serve in that position during Barack Obama’s presidency. Last year, Carney resigned and was succeeded by Josh Earnest.
